ABOUT THE ARTIST

Osvaldo Romero "Ozman"
Osvaldo Romero is a South Texas artist who works on ceramic and mixed media art. He comes from a family of artists, proudly being the third generation to pursue this path. After high school, Osvaldo enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman, serving from 2001 to 2012 with multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. During his service, he was given the nickname "Ozman."
Upon his honorable discharge in 2012, Osvaldo returned to his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, with his family. While working for the city, he began creating small sculptures and selling crafts at local art fairs. He quickly realized the positive impact art had on his well-being, which inspired him to pursue art as a new career. In 2017, Osvaldo enrolled in the Studio Art program at Del Mar College, and in 2023, he advanced his studies by transferring to the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
Artist Statement
My art delves into science fiction and dystopian futures through mixed media, ceramics, and printmaking. I create fictional relics from other worlds, remnants of lost technologies, and artifacts from a future that feels strangely familiar. My work is deeply influenced by both classic and modern sci-fi movies and art. I'm drawn to distressed surfaces and weathered objects, believing their rough, seasoned textures tell the most compelling stories.
